Keeping in view the importance of Sustainable Development in this country Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada had started School of Renewable Energy and Environment (SREE) under the Institute of Science and Technology from the academic year 2014-15. This School offering Two PG Course in M. Tech (Renewable Energy) and M. Tech (Environmental Engineering and Management).
Research and development activities on various relevant aspects of non-conventional energy sources were initiated. In response to the demand from industries and other organizations for trained manpower in the interdisciplinary field of energy and environment, M. Tech. Renewable Energy and M. Tech. Environmental Engineering and Management have been offered since inception of the school.
The course structure and curriculum for both the programs are framed following the guidelines of Outcome Based Education (OBE) in the Board of Studies (BOS) meeting. The curriculum is designed as a two year program for four semesters. In the first year the students complete the course work supported by the Labs and in the second year the students are encouraged to go to the industries to conduct research for M. Tech major project and to prepare seminars in the related areas.
